ORDINANCE NO. 800

 

 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS AND CREATING AN EMERGENCY.

 

 WHEREAS, Since the 1949 budget was passed and adopted additional expenses have been incurred by the necessity of improving streets and alleys in newly annexed territory of the City; by purchasing and installing new radio equipment for the Fire and Police Departments; by using equipment more than contemplated for efficient Police service; by installing additional water taps and sewer taps and new water mains in newly annexed territory; and for converting an old building into a modern Recreational Center on the West Side of the City; all of which were unforseen and arose after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance:

 

 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the General Funds of the City, the following amounts:

 

 A. To the Fire Department, the sum of Two Thousand, Two Hundred ($2,200.00) Dollars.

 

 B. To the Police Department, the sum of Seven Thousand ($7,000.00) Dollars.

 

 C. To the Highway Department, the sum of Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) Dollars.

 

 D. To the Recreation Department, the sum of Seven Thousand Five Hundred ($7,500.00) Dollars.

 

 Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts in the Water Department, the sum of Twenty-three Thousand ($23,000.00) Dollars, to the Water Fund.

 

 Section 4. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts from sewer rental and unexpended balance in that fund to the Sewer Department, the sum of One Thousand Six Hundred ($1,600.00) Dollars.

 

 Section 5. From receipts received from the Recreation Department to the Recreation Fund, the sum of Eight Thousand ($8,000.00) Dollars.

 

 By reason of the fact that it is necessary to provide funds to carry on the work of the various departments for the balance of the year, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, it shall take effect upon its passage.

 

 Passed and adopted this 7th day of December, A. D. 1949.
