ORDINANCE NO. 835

 AN ORDINANCE MAKING A SPECIAL APPROPRIATION FOR CIVIL DEFENSE.

 WHEREAS since the 1951 budget was passed and adopted and the annual appropriation ordinance was made, the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, has found it necessary to establish a Civil Defense Agency and to provide for the necessary expenses thereof; and

 WHEREAS the expenses of such an agency were unforeseen and arose after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby appropriated out of the general funds of the City to the Civil Defense Department, the sum of $4,000.00.

 Section 2. By reason of the fact that these unforeseen expenditures are necessary at this time, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council does hereby find and determine that passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it shall take effect on its passage.
