ORDINANCE NO. 845

 

 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY TO DEFRAY THE NECESSARY EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1952, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1952, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

 

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That the following sums of money, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1952, and ending December 31, 1952:

 

For General Government

$135,750.00

 

For Police Department

106,400.00

 

For Fire Department

69,050.00

 

For Health Department

8,700.00

 

For Park Department

83,600.00

 

For Airport Department

23,500.00

 

For Highway Department

154,000.00

 

For Recreation Department

32,000.00

 

For Civil Defense

4,800.00

 

For State Tax Collections

6,000.00

 

For Water Department

237,500.00

 

For Sewer Department

31,000.00

 

For Cemeteries Department

16,000.00

 

For Moyer Pool

9,000.00

 

For Library

23,500.00

 

Total

$940,800.00

 

 The following sums shall be appropriated for the Central Stores and Equipment Department:

 

For Stores Department

$110,700.00

 

For Equipment Department

70,000.00

 

 Section 2. That the receipts for the operation of the Stores Department shall be derived from the sale of supplies and materials to the various departments of the City from the appropriations of their respective departments.

 

 That the receipts for the operation of the Equipment Department shall be derived from rentals to be charged the various departments of the City for use of said equipment from the appropriations of their respective departments.

 

 That the amounts hereby appropriated for Water Bonds and interest and for the maintenance and improvements of the Water System, shall be provided for and paid out of the Water Fund.

 

 That the amounts appropriated for Sewage Disposal Bonds and interest and the maintenance of the Sewer Department shall be paid out of funds on hand in the Sewer Fund and from moneys collected for sewer rentals.

 

 That the amounts appropriated for Moyer Pool maintenance and improvements shall be paid out of funds on hand in the Moyer Pool Fund and revenue received from Moyer Pool for the year 1952.

 

 That the amount appropriated for Cemeteries shall be paid out of funds on hand in the Cemetery Fund and revenue received from the operation of the Cemeteries in the year 1952.

 

 That the amount appropriated for Library shall be paid out of funds on hand in the Library Fund and the balance by levy on all property subject to local levy within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado.

 

 That the amount appropriated for all other purposes shall be provided for by funds on hand and income from license fees, franchise fees, receipts from parking meters, and other miscellaneous receipts and by levy upon all property subject to local levy within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, as hereafter stated.

 

 Section 3. The following amounts are hereby levied for the year 1952 for the specific purposes indicated.

 

For General Fund (based on General Fund appropriation) Twenty-four mills

$337,148.40

 

For Library Fund One and five-tenths mills

21,071.77

 

 Section 4. By reason of the fact that this ordinance must be in effect on January 1st, 1952, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

 

 Passed and adopted this 19th day of December, 1951.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY TO DEFRAY THE NECESSARY EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1952, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1952, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY," was introduced, read, passed, numbered 845 and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 19th day of December, A.D. 1951.
