ORDINANCE NO. 865

 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON NORTH AVENUE AND AMENDING SECTION 14, ORDINANCE NO. 780 OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 SECTION 1: Section 14 of Ordinance No. 780 (being Section 14 of Chapter 47 (traffic) of the 1952 compiled ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:

 Section 14: Every person operating a vehicle on the streets in the City of Grand Junction shall drive the same in a careful and prudent manner, at a rate of speed no greater than is reasonable and safe under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. Driving in excess of the following speeds shall not be considered careful and prudent driving:

 (a) Fifteen miles per hour in alleys, along playground areas, when passing school buildings or during school recess, or when children are going to or leaving school during the opening and closing hours.

 (b) Twenty miles per hour in the business district.

 (c) Twenty miles per hour in and through the City parks; provided, however, that the speed shall not exceed fifteen miles per hour along the playground areas.

 (d) Thirty miles per hour upon North Avenue from the West boundary line of the City of Grand Junction to the center of Thirteenth Street as extended North from Dundee Place.

 (e) Thirty-five miles per hour upon North Avenue from the East boundary line of the City of Grand Junction to the center of Thirteenth Street as extended North from Dundee Place.

 (f) Twenty-five miles per hour in the residence and all other districts except as herein provided.

 Passed and adopted this 15th day of October, 1952.
