ORDINANCE NO. 884
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS AND CREATING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, since the 1953 Budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been incurred for the construction of a Police Heating Plant, for the purchase of traffic lights, for garbage cooking, for the purchase of express free way right of way, for payment on the North Avenue storm sewer and Mesa Avenue storm sewer, for Cloud Seeding, for employment of a Water Production Engineer and for construction of additional water mains;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended general funds of the City, the following amounts:
A. | To the Police Department | $2,000.00

B. | To the Health Department | 600.00
|
C. | To the following sub-departments of the Highway Department, the following amounts:

1. Traffic | 7,500.00
| |
2. Opening of streets | 8,660.00
| |
3. Widening of streets | 9,000.00
| |
4. Mesa Avenue storm sewer | 1,000.00 |
Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended balance of the Waterworks Fund, the following amounts to the following sub-departments of the Water Department:
A. | Watershed (Cloud Seeding) | 1,500.00
|
B. | Watershed (Production Engineer) | 6,500.00
|
C. | Watermain extension | 6,000.00 |
Section 3. The City Council hereby finds and determines that the above special appropriations are necessary in order to continue the work of the various departments, and that the passage of this Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it is therefore passed as an emergency ordinance, to take effect immediately upon passage and final publication.
