DEFINITION

 

Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for domestic and international markets to promote the City of Grand Junction both locally and globally; represent the City of Grand Junction at events and trade shows; analyze and evaluate data to determine the results of campaigns and initiatives to best deploy resources; maintain and build client and business relationships; create marketing initiatives, destination branding, advertising imagery, messaging and content.

Receives direction from the Visit Grand Junction Director.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

 

1.  Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for domestic and international markets to promote the City of Grand Junction both locally and globally.

 

2.  Represent the City of Grand Junction at events and trade shows, both in the area and abroad, to promote the City as an ideal location for conventions, conferences, tours and meetings; conduct appropriate follow-up and tracking.

 

3.  Develop area itineraries to promote tourism and attract new group and conference bookings; manage domestic and international travel trade, meetings, conventions, familiarization tours (FAMS) and consumer and trade shows; work with local businesses to improve area servicing of events, groups and conferences.

 

4.  Gather, organize and analyze data to determine the results of campaigns and initiatives to best deploy resources; identify prospect accounts and match group opportunities based on historical group behavior; research and implement new technology to drive business development initiatives including group and conference sales.

 

5.  Create marketing initiatives, destination branding, advertising imagery, messaging and content.

 

6.  Solicit national organizations to encourage convention and tourism activities; generate, track and follow up on leads; develop and execute community outreach, training activities and promotional initiatives; maintain and build client and business relationships.

 

7.  Oversee the Visit Grand Junction asset audio/visual library and digital images; respond to public inquiries involving multimedia; provide logos, messaging and artistic direction and implementation for promotional pieces.

 

8.  Monitor online channels for feedback and comments reflecting the area; respond to individuals or businesses that post on Visit Grand Junction social channels and interact on other business and attraction pages.

 

9.  Resolve customer service challenges while working with local businesses.

 

10.  Provide marketing support to all positions within the Visit Grand Junction Department; assist with the completion of special projects.

 

11.  Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of:

 

Principles and practices of media and public relations.

Social media marketing, promotions, communications, analysis, and functionality.

Effective technical and news writing skills.

Principles and applications of graphic design and layout.

English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

Minimum Requirements:

 

 Experience:

 

 Three (3) plus years of professional experience in sales, marketing, communications, public relations or tourism.

 

 Training:

 

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, communications, public relations, tourism or a related field.

 

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

 

License or Certificate

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
