ORDINANCE NO. 891

 

AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE LEAVING OF UNUSED AND UNATTENDED ICEBOXES AND REFRIGERATORS IN PLACES ACCESSIBLE TO CHILDREN; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.

 

 WHEREAS, unused and unattended iceboxes and refrigerators are a constant menace to the health, welfare and safety to the children in the City of Grand Junction;

 

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

 Section 1. UNUSED AND UNATTENDED ICEBOXES AND REFRIGERATORS. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to store, maintain, abandon or place any unused and unattended icebox or refrigerator in any place or location whatsoever which is accessible to children, without first removing the door or the locking device from said icebox or refrigerator.

 

 Section 2. PENALTY. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of the preceding section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an amount not less than $5.00 nor more than $300.00. Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue, shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.

 

 Section 3. Section 1 hereof shall be known as Section 41 and Section 2 hereof shall be known as Section 42 of Chapter 37 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado.
