ORDINANCE NO. 931

 

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

 

 WHEREAS, Since the 1955 Budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been incurred or contemplated by the enlargement of the police force by two additional policemen, for additional expense of garbage collection, for the construction of a new service center building, for expenses in connection with the new freeway and for conducting a traffic survey, and for construction of tie-down facilities at the airport; and

 

 WHEREAS, since the 1955 Budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been incurred or contemplated from the sewer fund for conducting an engineering survey; and

 

 WHEREAS, since the 1955 Budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been incurred or contemplated from the water fund for the enlargement of water service facilities and purchase of new office equipment;

 

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That there be appropriated from the general fund of the City of Grand Junction;

 

 a. To the police department for the purpose of defraying the additional expenses incurred by the enlarging of the police force by two additional officers the sum of $5,000.00;

 

 b. To the service center building account for the construction of the new service center building the sum of $15,000.00;

 

 c. To the highway fund for street light bases and lights and electricity for the same the sum of $4,400.00; to the highway fund for the expense of changing to a new type of parking meter the sum of $3,500.00; to the highway fund for a traffic survey the sum of $5,000.00;

 

 d. To the airport fund for construction of tie-down facilities the sum of $15,000.00.

 

 e. For the Public Health fund, the sum of $4,900.00.

 

 Section 2. That there be appropriated from the sewer fund of the City of Grand Junction the sum of $5,000.00 for payment of engineering fees incurred in conducting a survey of the City sewer system.

 Section 3. That there be appropriated from the water fund of the City of Grand Junction:

 

 a. For the purchase of new office equipment the sum of $1,000.00;

 

 b. For the purchase of new water meters the sum of $20,750.00;

 

 c. For the costs incurred in construction and extension of water mains the sum of $79,500.00;

 

 d. For construction of service lines the sum of $13,500.00;

 

 Section 4. The Council hereby finds that a special emergency exists and that the passage of this ordinance as an emergency ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety and this ordinance is hereby passed as an emergency ordinance and shall take effect upon passage.
