ORDINANCE NO. 974

AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TERRITORY (MELROSE ADDITION) TO THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION

 WHEREAS, a Petition to annex the property hereinafter described to the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, was filed with the City Clerk and considered by the City Council on April 18, 1956; and

 WHEREAS, the said City Council at that time found the said territory to be eligible for annexation, the Petition to be signed by the required number of landowners, and all other requirements of Section 2 of Chapter 314, Session Laws of Colorado, 1947, to be satisfactorily complied with; and

 WHEREAS, the City Council did accept and approve the said Petition for annexation by its Resolution dated April 18, 1956; and

 WHEREAS, Notice of the filing of said Petition has been published once each week for four publications in the Daily Sentinel, the first publication being on June 9, 1956 and the last publication being on June 30, 1956; and

 WHEREAS, 30 days have elapsed after the first publication of said Notice and a Counter-Petition has been filed, which Counter-Petition has been signed by less than two-thirds of the persons signing such Petition, and no other Counter-Petitions or written objections to said annexation have been filed with the City Clerk of the City of Grand Junction;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 That the said annexation is approved and that the following described property shall be and it is hereby declared to be annexed to the City of Grand Junction, Colorado:

The Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 12, Township 1 South, Range 1 West of the Ute Meridian, Mesa County, Colorado.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 976 was introduced, read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 21st day of June, 1956, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City at least ten days before its final passage.
