ORDINANCE NO. 1037

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING RESIDENCE "A" DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION UNDER CHAPTER 83 IN THE 1953 COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, CONCERNING THE BUILDING OF CHURCHES.

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 That the category for Residence "A" District classified in Chapter 83 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, shall be amended to read as follows:

 RESIDENCE "A" DISTRICT

 1.  Single family dwelling

 2.  Church, School, College, Library, Museum, Community Building, Public Building for Local Service and Protection

 3.  Park, Playground, Recreation Building, School or College Stadium or Tennis Court or Athletic Field, Golf Course, Polo Field

 4.  Railroad right of way, not including railway yards, Passenger Station.

 5.  Water Supply, Reservoir, Well

 6.  Private Club, excepting a club the chief activity of which is a service customarily carried on as a business

 7.  Non-commercial Conservatory for Plants and Flowers

 8.  Farming and Truck Gardening

 9.  Private Garage, as provided in Section 5

 10.  Regulator stations owned and used by any public utility company for natural or artificial gas; and electrical sub-stations.

 Provided, however, that no church shall be erected within the City of Grand Junction under any of the zoning categories until the City Council has first approved both the location and the full plans of such Church.

 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of February, 1958.
