ORDINANCE NO. 1048

 

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION IN ITS OPERATIONS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That Chapter 10 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances be amended by adding thereto a Section 10 as follows:

 

 Section 10. Upon final passage of this ordinance and thereafter at such times as the Chief of Police shall determine, a sale shall be held by the Police Department of such personal property as is acquired by the Department, other than for the operation of the Department, which has not been claimed by the owners thereof after such property has been held for a period of six (6) months. Such sale shall be advertised at least once in a newspaper of general circulation within the City of Grand Junction at least ten (10) days prior to said sale. The proceeds of such sale, after deduction of the expenses of the sale, shall be deposited into the police pension fund of the City.

 

 Section 2. It is hereby declared that a special emergency exists; that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety; and that this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION IN ITS OPERATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, was introduced, read, passed, numbered 1048, and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 6th day of August, 1958.
