ORDINANCE NO. 1087
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4 OF CHAPTER 78 OF THE 1953 COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO,
CONCERNING EXCAVATIONS IN STREETS AND ALLEYS WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, AND PROVIDING FOR CHARGES THEREFOR
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
That Section 4 of Chapter 78 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:
Section 4. EXCAVATING IN STREETS AND ALLEYS PROHIBITED WITHOUT PERMITS.
a. No person, firm or corporation, shall make any excavation in any street or alley within the City of Grand Junction unless he shall first have obtained permission therefor from the City Engineer.
b. The City Engineer shall measure all such excavations; and at the end of each month, bills shall be rendered to the various excavators or utility companies to cover the cost to the City of replacing the surface of the street or alley over all such excavations made during the preceding month. Such charges shall be computed on the basis of the area of the surface cut and shall be as follows:
(1) | Gravel surface | $ .20 per square foot
|
(2) | Road mix oil | $ .60 per square foot
|
(3) | Plant mix oil | $1.00 per square foot
|
(4) | Concrete | $3.00 per square foot
|
c. The excavator shall be required to compact the trench or excavation to grade according to the specifications of the City Engineer.
d. Statements shall be sent from the office of the City Auditor monthly; and all such accounts shall be due and payable within thirty (30) days after the month for which they were billed, and shall be payable at the office of the City Treasurer at the City Hall in Grand Junction.
