ORDINANCE NO. 1109
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 2 AND 3 OF THE CHAPTER 65 OF THE 1953 COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, AMENDING THE DEFINITION OF “JUNK” AND “JUNK DEALERS” AND CHANGING THE LICENSE FEE THEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
That Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Chapter 65 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, be amended to read as follows:
Section 1 JUNK AND JUNK DEALERS DEFINED. The term “junk” as used in this ordinance shall mean and include: all scrap metal; and all materials, fabrics, rubber, paper, glass, metal and rubbish, made up of discarded furniture, furnishings, clothing, bottles, rope, cable, books, magazines, newspaper, and other articles, and discarded automobiles, machines, apparatus and contrivances, and parts thereof, which are no longer in use or objects of sale or trade for the purposes for which they were originally made, fabricated, assembled, manufactured, or sold; and any person, persons, firm or corporation who shall buy, sell, barter, handle, trade or deal in junk shall be termed “junk dealers” and be subject to the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 2. JUNK DEALERS KEEP RECORD BOOK - PLACE MAY BE INSPECTED BY OFFICERS. Every junk dealer shall have a regular place of business within the City of Grand Junction, which place shall be open for inspection to any officer of the City, or any citizen of the City when accompanied by an officer of the City; and every such junk dealer shall keep at his place of business a substantial and well-bound book in which he shall enter in writing the names and residences of persons from whom he shall purchase or receive junk, which said book shall be kept clean and legible and shall not erase, obliterate or deface any entry therein and shall make all entries therein in ink, and such book shall be open for inspection to any person or persons at all times when accompanied by an officer of the City. And every such junk dealer shall make a weekly report in writing, in the form prescribed by the Chief of Police of the City of Grand Junction, to the Chief of Police of said City, giving an accurate description of each and every article of Junk purchased or received, the date of the receipt of the same, and the name, residence and description of the person selling the same.
Section 3. LICENSE FEE FOR JUNK DEALER. Every junk dealer, as defined by and referred to in Section 1 of this ordinance, shall pay a license fee of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per annum, or for any portion thereof.
