ORDINANCE NO. 1222

 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20 OF CHAPTER 42 OF THE 1953 COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION BY ADDING THERETO A SUBSECTION 7 TO PROVIDE FOR YOUTH JURIES IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

That Section 20 of Chapter 42 of the 1953 Compiled Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended by the addition of a subsection 7 to read as follows:

 

 Section 7. Youth Jury.

 

 a.  The presiding Municipal Judge shall be authorized to appoint an advisory jury which shall be known as the Youth Jury. Youth jurors shall serve without compensation.

 

 b.  The Youth Jury shall assist the Municipal Judge in cases involving alleged violations of motor vehicle and traffic ordinances by defendants 18 years of age or younger, pursuant to rules and policies to be established by the Municipal Judge.
