ORDINANCE NO. 1227

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION BY ADDING THERETO A SECTION 14 ESTABLISHING THE RATES FOR TAPPING ONTO THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION AND SEWERAGE USE CHARGES FOR PROPERTIES OUTSIDE THE CITY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

That Chapter 25 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended by adding thereto a Section 14, which shall read as follows:

Section 25-14. Connection and Service Charges for Properties Outside of the City.

(a) The charge for tapping onto the City of Grand Junction sewerage system outside the city limits of the City shall be determined upon the basis of the total of three factors, as follows:

1. A charge of $0.06 per square foot of land area proposed to be served shall be made, which land area shall include all of the land abutting the system owned by the person seeking the tap; provided, however, the City Council may determine that such charge shall be made to a depth of only 150 feet should such action seem fair and equitable.

2. In addition, an assessment of $150.00 shall be made for a four inch connection for single family usage with a higher charge being made for larger pipe connections in the ratio of the carrying capacity of the larger pipe size to four inch pipe multiplied by the base $150.00.

3. Sewer tap connections for more than single family usage shall, in addition to the above charges, be charged $200.00 each for each additional unit to ten units, $100.00 per unit for each unit over ten to and including thirty units, with no additional charge for units over thirty. This charge shall not apply to hotels, motels and trailer courts which shall be considered commercial uses and charged accordingly.

(b) Service charges for users of the system outside of the City shall be double the rate charged the users inside the City on the basis as set out in Section 25-1 of this Chapter.
