ORDINANCE NO. 1229

 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, BY ADDING THERETO A SECTION 29, PROHIBITING THE KILLING OF BIRDS WITHIN THE CITY, ITS CEMETERIES AND CITY OWNED PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

That Chapter 19 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended by the addition of a Section 29, which shall read as follows:

 

Section 19-29. Unlawful to Kill Birds.

 

It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction or within the cemeteries of said City or City owned parks or recreation areas at any time, to frighten, shoot at, wound, kill, take, capture, ensnare, net, trap, or in any other manner molest any robin, lark, whip-poor-will, finch, sparrow thrush, wren, martin, swallow, snowbird, bob-o-link, red-winged blackbird, crow, raven, oriole, kingbird, mockingbird, song sparrow or other song or insectivorous bird; or in any manner molest or injure the nest, eggs or young of any such birds; or to have in possession the nest, eggs, young, or body of any such birds.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 1229, was introduced, read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 4th day of May, 1966, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City at least ten days before its final passage.
