ORDINANCE NO. 1231

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE MODEL TRAFFIC CODE FOR COLORADO MUNICIPALITIES 1966, PROMULGATED BY THE COLORADO HIGHWAY SAFETY COUNCIL, A DIVISION OF THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT UNDER AUTHORITY VESTED BY THE STATE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, TO REGULATE AND CONTROL PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION AND ADOPTING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF SAID CODE.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

1. Pursuant to Chapter 139, Article 34, C.R.S. 1963, there is hereby adopted for the purpose of regulating traffic within the City of Grand Junction that certain Ordinance known as the "Model Traffic Code for Colorado Municipalities, 1966" officially approved, adopted and published as such by the Colorado Highway Safety Council and hereinafter referred to as the "Municipal Traffic Code" of which three (3) copies are now filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Grand Junction and may be inspected during regular business hours, the same being adopted as if set out at length save and except the following article or section.

2. The following penalties, herewith set forth in full, shall apply to the provisions of the Municipal Traffic Code herein adopted:

(a) It is unlawful for any person to violate any of the provisions of the Municipal Traffic Code and any such violation shall be punishable as hereinafter provided.

(b) Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars ($300) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 1231 was introduced, read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 15th day of June, 1966, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City at least ten days before its final passage.
