ORDINANCE NO. 1245
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2-48 (a) AND 2-49 (a) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION TO LIMIT WITHDRAWALS BY MEMBERS FROM THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND AND THE POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUND TO THOSE FOR LENGTH OF SERVICE AND DISABILITY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:
1. That Section 2-48 (a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:
(a) From and after January 1, 1958, there shall be deducted from the compensation paid each member of the Fire Department of the City of Grand Junction a percentage of his monthly pay equal to the percentage paid by those participating under the Social Security program of the Federal government. Such deductions shall be paid into, and become a part of, the Firemen's Pension Fund of the City of Grand Junction established under Article 50, Chapter 139, 1963 Colorado Revised Statutes as amended, such payments to be made during the month following the month when such assessments were withheld. No withdrawals from the fund may be made by a member of the department covered under the terms of this section for any purpose other than in payment of pensions for length of service and for disability; that when an officer or member is separated from the service prior to retirement, either voluntarily or involuntarily, he forfeits all rights both to the pension and to the amounts he has contributed to the fund.
2. That Section 2-49 (a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:
