ORDINANCE NO. 1264

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-13 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION TO PREVENT THE BURNING OF CERTAIN MATERIALS WITHIN THE CITY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

That Section 14-13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:

Section 14-13. Burning of Rubbish.

It shall be unlawful for any person to set fire to any rubbish or waste material of any kind upon any street, alley, or lot within fire zone 1 of the City, or within fifty feet thereof, as the same is established, or may be established hereafter, except within a furnace or stove or other appliance approved by the City Manager and used for commercial purposes; and it shall be unlawful for any person to set fire to such material within forty feet of any building outside of such fire zone 1 except within the receptacles approved by the Fire Chief. Permitted burning of rubbish or waste material shall be done only between the hours of 6:00 o'clock A.M. and 4:00 o'clock P.M. Rubbish fires lighted prior to 4:00 o'clock P.M. shall be extinguished or caused to be extinguished or caused to be extinguished by the person lighting the same before such hour. For the purposes of this section, rubbish or waste material shall include nonputrescible, combustible wastes, but shall not include tin cans, yard clippings, glass, bedding, crockery and similar materials.
