ORDINANCE NO. 1265

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, THE LIBRARY SECTION THEREOF, DISSOLVING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY LIBRARY, TRANSFERRING THE BOOKS AND PERIODICALS, THE CITY LIBRARY PERSONALTY AND THE FUNDS HELD BY THE CITY FOR THE LIBRARY OPERATION TO THE MESA COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE MESA COUNTY TREASURER FOR THE PUBLIC LIBRARY FUND, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

1. That Chapter 16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction is hereby repealed and the Board of Directors of the City Library, serving by virtue of such Chapter, is hereby dissolved.

2. That the books and periodicals and the personalty used in conjunction with the City Library are hereby transferred and set over to the Mesa County Public Library to be used for library purposes in the Mesa County Public Library, as the Board thereof may deem proper.

3. That the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to transfer and set over to the Mesa County Treasurer for the Public Library Fund the sum of $25,000.00 from account No. 131.30-B, said monies being a portion of the Library Fund monies of the City to be used for library purposes by the Mesa County Public Library Board. The balance of Library Fund monies held by the City shall be transferred in like manner at such time as the remaining balance in such fund is determined. Further, the City Treasurer is authorized and directed to transfer the sum of $2,000.00 from account No. 160 to the Mesa County Treasurer for the Library Fund to be used by the Mesa County Public Library Board for library purposes in the manner designated by the donors of such monies.

4. As it is deemed important that the library transfer be effected as soon as is possible, it is hereby declared that a special emergency exists, that this ordinance is necessary for the public peace, health and safety and shall become effective upon its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, THE LIBRARY SECTION THEREOF, DISSOLVING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY LIBRARY, TRANSFERRING THE BOOKS AND PERIODICALS, THE CITY LIBRARY PERSONALTY AND THE FUNDS HELD BY THE CITY FOR THE LIBRARY OPERATION TO THE MESA COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE MESA COUNTY TRANSFER FOR THE PUBLIC LIBRARY FUND, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, was introduced, read, passed and adopted as an emergency ordinance, numbered 1265 and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 5th day of July, 1967.
