ORDINANCE NO. 1270
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 a OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION RAISING SEWER SERVICE CHARGES AND AMENDING SECTION 25-5 OF SUCH CODE TO PROVIDE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WATER AND SEWER FUND AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:
Section 1. That Section 25-1 a of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:
Section 25-1. SERVICE CHARGES.
a. Commencing October 1, 1967, there shall be levied and assessed upon each lot, parcel of land, building or premises having any connection with the sewer system of said City, sewer service charges or rentals as follows:
(a) | Single family dwelling | $1.85 per month
|
(b) | Multiple family dwelling of three units or less | $1.85 per month plus $1.00 per unit per month for each unit over one
|
(c) | Multiple family dwelling over three units | $3.85 per month plus $0.55 per month for each additional unit over three
|
(d) | Rooming houses | $1.85 per month plus $0.30 per month for each room available for renting.
|
(e) | Commercial properties including hotels and motels | Forty per cent of the charge made for water to the closest multiple of five cents with a minimum charge of $1.85
|
(f) | Industrial and manufacturing uses | An amount to be agreed upon between the City and the user based on volume of sewage, biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, grease and other accepted criteria. |
Section 2. That Section 25-5 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:
Section 25-5. DISPOSITION OF SEWER REVENUES.
The funds received from the collection of the charges or rentals authorized by this chapter shall be deposited with the City Treasurer and shall be by him deposited in a fund to be known as the "Water and Sewer Fund," and, when appropriated by the city Council, shall be used for the maintenance, operation, extension and improvement of either the sewer or water system, or both such systems, and for interest on and discharging of principal of bonds and other obligations incurred in the acquisition, construction, improvement and extension of either or both such systems.
Section 3. It is hereby declared that a special emergency exists and that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety and shall take effect upon its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 a OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION RAISING SEWER SERVICE CHARGES AND AMENDING SECTION 2-5 OF SUCH CODE TO PROVIDE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WATER AND SEWER FUND AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY was introduced, read, passed and adopted as an emergency ordinance, numbered 1270 and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the member of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 20th day of September, 1967.
