ORDINANCE NO. 1322

 

AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING AND REGULATING SELF-SERVICE AND COIN-OPERATED SERVICE STATIONS

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

That Section 10 of Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction is hereby repealed, and enacted as such Section is the following:

 

Section 12-10. Regulation of the dispensing of gasoline. All pumps or other mechanical measuring devices used for the retail sale or dispensing of gasoline in the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, shall be securely locked so that no fluid can be drawn therefrom except when the operation of said pump or device is under direct observation of an attendant who shall not engage in duties other than those pertaining to the operation and servicing of these devices. Devices may be attendant operated, coin operated or key or card operated at the device itself but may not be operated by remote control from a separate location. Dispensing devices shall be protected from moving vehicles by proper curbing to insure such protection. All nozzles shall be of the automatic closing type. Nozzles on devices which are coin operated or otherwise available to public usage shall not have latch open mechanisms. There shall be a point removed from the pump islands where master electrical controls can be operated to shut off all power in emergencies.

 

Self-service, coin-operated or card or key operated stations, in addition to the provisions of the foregoing paragraph, shall be bound by those rules and regulations governing the operations and locations of gasoline service stations generally under the ordinances of the City of Grand Junction.
