ORDINANCE NO. 1481
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TERRITORY
TO THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, an annexation election has heretofore been held to determine
whether or not the land hereinafter described should be annexed to the City of Grand Junction, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the results of such election favored the annexation of the
territory to the City and the District Court of Mesa County, Colorado, has
decreed, as a result of such election, that the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, may annex the territory to the City;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:
1. That the following property, situate in Mesa County, Colorado,
whose boundary is described as:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of the Northeast
quarter, Southeast quarter Section 23 Township 1
South, Range 1 West; thence South (across the Colorado
River) to the South boundary line of the Colorado
River; thence Easterly along said South line of
river (App. 7500 ft.) to the Northeast corner of
Highland Acres Subdivision in Section 19 Township 1
South, Range 1 East; thence South (App. 1075 ft.) to
the South line of said Section 19; thence West (App.
2389 ft.) along the said South line to a point on
the South line of Section 24 Township 1 South,
Range 1 West (said point being 811 feet East of the
North Quarter corner Section 25 Township 1 South,
Range 1 West); thence South 1320 ft.; thence East
180 ft.; thence South 1320 ft. to a point on the
East-West quarter section line of Section 25 Town-
ship 1 South, Range 1 West; thence West along said
quarter line to the point of intersection with the
South right of way line of U.S. Highway No. 50 as
it now exists (App. 2650 ft.); thence Northwesterly
along the South Line of said Highway to its point of
intersection with the South line of the Northwest
Quarter of the Northeast quarter Section 26 Township
1 South, Range 1 West; thence West along said South
line to its intersection with the existing City Limits
(App. 1800 ft.); thence North App. 660 ft.; thence
West 660 ft.; thence North 660 ft. to the South line
of Section 23 Township 1 South, Range 1 West; thence
West to the Southeast corner of Orchard Mesa Annexa-
tion; thence North 80 ft.; thence North 24o 40' West
266 ft.; thence North 4o 51' East 115 ft.; thence
along the West right of way line of U.S. Highway 50
as it now exists for a distance of 186 ft.; thence
East 254 ft.; thence North 650 ft.; thence East 839
ft.; thence Northeasterly 1231 ft. along existing
City Limits; thence North 2o 55' West 186 ft.; thence
North 2o 37' West 317 ft. to the East-West quarter
Section Line of Section 23 Township 1 South, Range 1
West (South line of Struthers Avenue); thence East
along said line to the point of beginning. This
description is relative to the Ute Meridian,
be, and it hereby is, annexed to the City of Grand Junction,
Colorado.
2. This Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public
health, safety and welfare and shall become effective upon passage for purpose stated.

AN EMERGENCY was introduced, read, passed and adopted as an emergency ordin
ance, numbered 1481 and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the
members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meet
of said Council held on the l9th day of December, 1973.
