ORDINANCE NO. 1491

AN ORDINANCE VACATING PORTIONS OF STREETS AND AN ALLEY WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION

WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Grand Junction the request for vacation of the South half of Main Street from the East line of First Street to the center-line of Second Street, the vacation of the West half of Second Street from the South line of Main Street to a point 165.0 feet South of said line and the vacation of the East-West Alley in Block 121 City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado, and

WHEREAS, the City of Grand Junction is the owner of Lots 4 through 12 in said Block 121 and has an option to purchase Lots 1 through 3 in said Block, making the City the owner or potential owner of land abutting the major portion of the streets and alley proposed for vacation, and

WHEREAS, the City proposes a public development of the lots consistent with the previous Shopping Park development and proposed future development of the downtown shopping area of the City, and

WHEREAS, the vacation of the portions of streets and alley has been approved by the Planning Commission, would not deprive anyone of access to property and would be of benefit to the citizens of the City,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

That the South half of Main Street from the East line of First Street to the center-line of Second Street, the West Half of Second Street from the South line of Main Street to a point 165.0 feet South of said line, and the East-West alley in Block 121, City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado, all be vacated subject to easements for existing utilities.
