ORDINANCE NO. 1614

 

AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE USE OF CERTAIN PLASTIC PIPE FOR WATER SERVICE LINES.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

That Section 31-22 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:

 

Section 31-22. Requirements for Service Pipe.

 

All service pipes laid or constructed in the City for the distribution of water connected with the main in the street and extended to the stop box SHALL BE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, and no other kind shall be used or laid:

 

(1) Type K copper;

 

(2) ULTRA-HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF TYPE III CLASS C CATEGORY 5-P34 POLYETHYLENE AS DEFINED BY THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS SPECIFICATION D-1248. PIPE SHALL HAVE A WORKING PRESSURE OF 160 PSI at 73.4°F AND SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE NATIONAL SANITATION FOUNDATION OR THE AMERICAN WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION FOR USE WITH POTABLE WATER AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS SPECIFICATION D-2737.
