ORDINANCE NO. 1740

AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, MOVING, DEMOLITION, REPAIR AND USE OF ANY BUILDING OR STRUCTURE WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO; ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THERETO THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS, 1976 EDITION, TOGETHER WITH THE APPENDIX THERETO, EXCEPT CHAPTER 15 OF SAID APPENDIX AND TOGETHER WITH THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1976 EDITION, OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR; DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE DISTRICTS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

1. Pursuant to the authority conferred by the laws of the State of Colorado and the Charter of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, there is hereby adopted as the building code of the City of Grand Junction, by reference thereto, the Uniform Building Code, 1976 Edition, including the Appendix thereto, except Chapter 15 of the said Appendix and together with the Uniform Building Code Standards, 1976 Edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, 5360 South Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California 90601, all to have the same force and effect as though set forth herein in every particular.

2. Amendments:

(a) Table 3-A of the Uniform Building Code, 1976 Edition, is amended to read as follows:

Table No. 3-A - Building Permit Fees

(b) Chapter 15 of the Appendix is specifically not adopted by this Ordinance.

3. A public hearing on the adoption by reference thereto of the Uniform Building Code, 1976 Edition, including the Appendix thereto, except Chapter 15 of said Appendix and together with the Uniform Building Code Standards, 1976 Edition, be, and the same hereby is scheduled in the City Council Chambers in the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on the 7th day of June, 1978, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish Notice of said public hearing in the manner and style and pursuant to the schedule of such publication prescribed in Colorado Revised Statutes 31-12-403 (1973).

4. At least three copies of the Uniform Building Code, 1976 Edition, together with Appendix thereto, Chapter 15 excepted and the Uniform Building Code Standards, 1976 Edition, all certified to be true copies, shall be on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at least fifteen (15) days preceding said hearing and may be inspected by any interested person between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.

5. Any violation of the building code of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, from and after the effective date thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding three hundred dollars ($300.00) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

6. Any and all sections or parts of sections of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, as amended, in conflict or inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 1740, was introduced, read, and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 3rd day of May, 1978, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City, at least ten days before its final passage.
