ORDINANCE NO. 1741

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING MINIMUM STANDARDS TO SAFEGUARD LIFE OR LIMB, HEALTH, PROPERTY AND PUBLIC WELFARE BY REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION, QUALITY OF MATERIALS, LOCATION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HEATING, VENTILATING, COOLING, REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, INCINERATORS AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS HEAT-PRODUCING APPLIANCES; ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PLUMBING AND MECHANICAL OFFICIALS, 1976 EDITION, TOGETHER WITH APPENDICES THERETO; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

1. Pursuant to the authority conferred by the laws of the State of Colorado and the Charter of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, there is hereby adopted as the mechanical code of the City of Grand Junction, by reference thereto, the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1976 Edition, including the Appendices thereto, published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, 5032 Alhambra Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90032, all to have the same force and effect as though set forth herein in every particular.

2. A public hearing on the adoption by reference thereto of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1976 Edition, including the Appendices thereto, be and the same hereby is scheduled in the City Council Chambers in the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on the 7th day of June, 1978, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish Notice of said public hearing in the manner and style and pursuant to the schedule of such publication prescribed in Colorado Revised Statutes 31-12-403 (1973).

3. At least three copies of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1976 Edition, together with Appendices thereto, all certified to be true copies, shall be on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at least fifteen (15) days preceding said hearing and may be inspected by any interested persons between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday, through Friday.

4. Any violation of the mechanical code of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, from and after the effective date thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding three hundred dollars ($300.00) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

5. Any and all sections or parts of sections of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, as amended, in conflict or inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 1741, was introduced, read, and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 3rd day of May, 1978, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City, at least ten days before its final passage.
