ORDINANCE NO. 1788

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FEES FOR COLLECTION OF REFUSE.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

That the following subsections of Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows, to be effective January 1, 1979:

Sec. 14-12.(A)(1)(a):

"Single-family dwellings: One dollar and seventy-two cents ($1.72) per month for weekly collection of all refuse."

Sec. 14-12.(A)(1)(b):

"Double or multi-family dwellings: The following monthly rates shall apply for weekly collection of all refuse at a single pickup point for each building:

2 units . . . $2.77

3 units . . . 3.83

4 units . . . 4.88

5 units . . . 5.94

6 units . . . 7.00

7 units . . . 8.05

8 units . . . 9.11

In instances where multi-family residential uses have five (5) or more units, owners may elect to be charged according to the commercial rate as set forth in paragraph (A)(2)(a) of this section."

Sec. 14-12.(A)(2)(a):

"The minimum charge shall be two dollars and thirty-eight cents ($2.38) per month which shall provide weekly collection of up to one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons of refuse. Rates for increased frequency of collection based on the equivalent of five (5) thirty-one (31) gallon containers (one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons per pickup shall be:

Once a week service . . . $2.38

Twice a week service . . . 4.14

Three times a week service . . . 5.90

Four times a week service . . . 7.66

Five times a week service . . . 9.42

Six times a week service . . . 11.18

For each additional thirty-one (31) gallons per pickup, or part thereof, an additional charge of forty-four cents ($0.44) shall be added to the monthly rate."

Sec. 14-12.(A)(2)(d):

"The monthly rental and service charge for the collection of sanitation tanks shall be as follows:

1. The monthly service charge for handling compacted material placed in tanks, from stationary compactors shall be at three hundred per cent (300%) of the standard tank rate.

2. The monthly service charge for handling and servicing portable compactors shall be based on the capacity of the unit and shall be at three hundred percent (300%) of the comparable tank rate."

Sec. 14-12.(A)(3)(a):

"The minimum charge shall be three dollars and fifty-two cents (3.52) per month which shall provide weekly collection of up to one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons of refuse not to exceed two hundred and fifty (250) pounds in weight."
