ORDINANCE NO. 1850

 

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING GARBAGE AND TRASH AND INCREASING THE RATE FOR COLLECTION OF SAME.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

1. That the following subsections of Section 14-12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction be amended to read as follows:

 

(A)(1)(a):

 

Single family dwellings: One Dollar and ninety five cents ($1.95) THREE DOLLARS AND TWENTY-THREE CENTS ($3.23) per month for weekly collection of all refuse.

 

(A)(1)(b):

 

Double or multi-family dwellings: The following monthly rates shall apply for weekly collection of all refuse at a single pickup point for each building:

In instances where multi-family residential uses have five (5) or more units, owners may elect to be charged according to the commercial rate as set forth in paragraph (A)(2)(a) of this section.

 

(A)(2)(a):

 

The minimum charge shall be two dollars and seventy cents ($2.70) FOUR DOLLARS AND FORTY-SEVEN CENTS ($4.47) per month which shall provide weekly collection of up to one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons of refuse. Rates for increased frequency of collection based on the equivalent of five (5) thirty-one (31) gallon containers (one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons) per pickup shall be:

For each additional thirty-one (31) gallons per pickup, or part thereof, an additional charge of fifty cents ($0.50) EIGHTY-THREE CENTS ($0.83) shall be added to the monthly rate.

 

(A)(2)(b):

 

Service for supermarkets and other large volume producers in trailers and chutes shall be at the rate of sixty cents ($0.60) FOUR DOLLARS AND THIRTY CENTS ($4.30) per cubic yard per pickup.

 

(A)(2)(d):

 

The monthly rental and service charge for the collection of sanitation tanks shall be as follows:

1. The monthly service charge for handling compacted material placed in tanks, from stationary compactors shall be at three hundred percent (300%) of the standard tank rate.

 

2. The monthly service charge for handling and servicing portable compactors shall be based on the capacity of the unit and shall be at three hundred percent (300%) of the comparable tank rate.

 

(A)(3)(a):

 

The minimum charge shall be four dollars ($4.00) SIX DOLLARS AND SIXTY-TWO CENTS ($6.62) per month which shall provide weekly collection of up to one hundred fifty-five (155) gallons of refuse not to exceed two hundred fifty (250) pounds in weight.

 

2. That the rates prescribed herein shall take effect beginning with the first billing after January 1, 1980.
