ORDINANCE NO. 2417

 

AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, CHAPTER 26, SECTION 26-51 REGARDING THE GRAND JUNCTION DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

Chapter 26, Section 26-51 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction is amended as follows:

 

1. Add a new definition to be numbered 26.51.5 which definition shall read as follows:

 

"26-51.5. G.J.D.A.: The G.J.D.A. is the Grand Junction Downtown Association, a non-profit Colorado Corporation whose purpose is to serve the interests of the merchants located in the Downtown Shopping Park."

 

26-51.13 - Add the following language:

 

2. Add a new section numbered 26-51.13 which shall read as follows:

 

"No more than 12 special use permits allowing roadway closure in excess of two hours during normal business hours shall be issued per year and no more than two such permits shall be issued in any calendar month."

 

3. Add a new section numbered 26-53.2A which shall read as follows:

 

"Permits: Any person seeking the issuance of a special use permit, including renewals, shall first contact the G.J.D.A. The G.J.D.A. shall have 10 days in which to elect to become the sponsor of the activity. If the G.J.D.A. declines, the person may make application directly to the D.D.A.

 

If the G.J.D.A. elects to become the event sponsor, it shall make application for the special use permit and may enter into such contracts and charge such fees as shall be reasonably necessary to pay for the costs associated with the operation of the event."

 

4. The definitions in the subsections following Section 26-51.5 shall be renumbered sequentially.

 

5. "Section 26-53.3" entitled "Application for Permits" is hereby redesignated as Section 26-53.2B.
