ORDINANCE NO. 2598

WHEREAS, the City has determined that the public will benefit if the City promotes recycling, and

WHEREAS, there are insufficient personnel and resources to perform such services in-house, and

WHEREAS, such services must therefore be performed by an independent contractor, to be supervised by the City, and

WHEREAS, the existing ordinance does not provide for such recycling activities, and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO,

Article 1, Chapter 14 is hereby amended as follows:

1. The first sentence of section 14-3 is hereby amended by adding an additional clause to the end of said sentence to read " . . . or its authorized agent and/or contractor".

2. Section 14-8(B)(1) is amended hereby by adding a sentence at the end thereof to read: "Containers for recyclables shall meet the requirements and specifications established by the Sanitation Superintendent".

3. Section 14-10(A)(1) is hereby amended by adding a new subsection (d) to read: "(d) Residential Recycling Rate: For single family and multifamily units of four or less units per structure which are not served by a sanitation tank, one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per unit per month for monthly collection of recyclables".
