CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO

 AMENDING ORDINANCE 2765 CREATING SECTION 5-14, HISTORIC

 PRESERVATION, IN THE ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT CODE

 

Recitals.

 

 The City adopted Section 5-14, Historic Preservation, in the Zoning and Development Code in August, 1994. That ordinance established a five member Historic Preservation Board to be appointed by the City Council.

 

 The Council has determined that it should retain the ability to vary the number of board members from time to time with a maximum of seven and a minimum of five members in order to maximize the expertise available to the board while being able to address, by resolution, circumstances where there are insufficient volunteers for the board positions.

 

 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

 That the following section of the Grand Junction Zoning and Development Code is hereby amended to read as follows :

 

5-14-2 A. Membership - The Board shall consist of a minimum of five (5) members and not more than seven (7) members providing a balanced, community-wide representation. When there are more than five (5) members of the Board, at least four (4) members shall be professionals or have expertise in a preservation-related discipline including but not limited to, history, architecture, planning, or archaeology. When there are five (5) member of the Board, there shall be at least three (3) such professionals. One member shall be a member of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board or an employee of the DDA. The Director of the Community Development Department and/or appointed department representatives shall serve as staff to the Board. The Council shall determine, by resolution, the number of members of the board at the same time that the Council makes the appointments to the board.
